Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy. Valard is a full-service EPC+ utility contractor with four decades of experience, successfully completing projects across Canada.Reporting to the Telecom Design Manager, the primary responsibilities include preparing drawings, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs under the direction of another designer. Role will mainly involve the creation and final output of telecommunications outside plant design deliverables. These include client database posting, IFC packages and as-built’s. As a fast-growing turn-key telecommunications contractor, Valard Construction will require the successful candidate to possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and contribute to overall department success as a team player.RequirementsRESPONSIBILITIES:Transpose detailed FTTP designs into customer owned systems. Drafting of proposed FTTP architecture which includes cables, conduit, duct structures, and furniture.Generate manhole and FDH details which accurately represent cabling layouts. Assign attributes to required features.Produce splice schematics that accurately portray count assignments to assist field crews with efficient splicing and testing.Complete Bill of Material reports and data entry functions as requested.Produce IFC package from client database which includes all required information for construction crews to build fiber networks safely and efficiently.Compile construction redlines into AutoCAD as built’s, capturing any field change that took place during construction. Capture these field changes in client database.Utilize your knowledge and experience for continuous drafting process development in both AutoCAD and client owned systems.Contribute to company quality program by conducting peer to peer reviews on completed work products that were produced by colleagues.SKILLS:Aptitude for technology with proficient working knowledge of current computer operating systems, plus Visio, Excel, Word and other Microsoft applications. Ability to use AutoCAD to draft 2D drawings.Must be able to follow instructions and perform work with minimal supervision once assigned a task. Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members.Highly detail-oriented, self-starter individual with excellent oral and written communication skills.
