Drop-in Support StaffPart-time permanent20 hours per week1JustCity Vision: We work towards a city where all are cared for, have enough to eat, a place they belong, and feel loved.Organization Description: 1JustCity operates Drop-ins in three vulnerable Winnipeg neighbourhoods; the West End, West Broadway, and Osborne Village. We also operate an Emergency Overnight Warming Shelter called Just a Warm Sleep. We provide services to over 1200 unique individuals weekly and support nearly 7000 people in total. We work with people living in poverty; experiencing homelessness or precarious housing, mental health issues and/or addiction, social isolation, oppression due to race or gender identity, and more.Our primary programs are a daily drop-in where all are welcome to come inside for a healthy meal, a cup of coffee, and healthy interaction; an Indigenous Cultural Program which provides accessible opportunities to experience Indigenous culture and engage in concrete reconciliation action; and our Community Capacity Builder Program which helps people to develop confidence and skills that they can use to serve their community.Our work is grounded in relationships; our Drop-ins are places where people are known by name and loved. We do provide for basic needs, but we strive to offer programs that are transformational; changing lives for the better, and not simply perpetuating poverty and oppression.The 4 pillars of our work are: Loving the Underloved, Working Towards Reconciliation, Growing Individuals Capacity, and Building Inclusive Communities. The Drop-in Support Staff will provide support as needed at each of the three Drop-in Sites, filling in for vacancies when other staff are sick or otherwise unable to report to work.Wage: $15.00/hr (wage under review)Work Schedule: The Drop-in Support Staff will need to be flexible in their schedule, depending on the organization’s needs on any given day. 1JustCity will provide a schedule as far in advance as possible.Reports to: Executive DirectorResponsibilities:

• Work with other staff and volunteers to ensure that all three of 1JustCity’s Drop-in Sites can be open and ready to support their communities daily, including direct involvement in leadership.

• Work with other staff and volunteers to ensure that 1JustCity Drop-in Sites are safe and welcoming for a diverse group of community members.

• Assist with supervision of volunteers.

• Assist with other site programming as needed, including food distribution.

• Consult on an ongoing basis with other staff and volunteers as needed to ensure safe and strong program design and delivery.

• Participate in orientation and safety training, and ongoing safety planning as the pandemic situation continues to unfold.

Qualifications & Abilities:

• Creativity and flexibility.

• Excellent planning and coordination skills.

• Knowledge and experience working with people from diverse cultures.

• Awareness and understanding of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

• Awareness and understanding of the impacts of colonization and Residential Schools on Indigenous peoples in Canada, and how that intersects with our work.

• Comfort working with people who have mental health and/or substance use disorders.

• Must be able to work as part of a team, with volunteers and staff, and provide direction.

• Well organized and able to set priorities.
