We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewThe Manager, Environmental Services is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping and Linen Services department and for providing ongoing leadership and direction to the Supervisors, Housekeeping Aides, Service Partners, Linen Service Aids and Clerks within the department.Experience

  • Minimum of five years recent experience in a supervisory position preferably in Housekeeping and/or Laundry in a health care facility.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and ESP preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12, Manitoba Standards.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma with major in business administration, health services or public administration or a closely related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by the Centre may be considered.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of housekeeping procedures, equipment, and products required (preferred in a health care facility).
  • Demonstrated knowledge in laundry, linen and central supply services required (preferred in a health care facility).
  • Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health legislation.
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (“WHMIS”).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of microbiology and chemistry is an asset.
  • Promotes the practice of patient/resident focused care within the service delivery model.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills in leading, coaching and training teams.
  • Demonstrated skill in performance management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in staff recruitment and retention.
  • Proficient in financial management, including participation in procurement processes and the ability to maintain a departmental budget.
  • Creates an environment that encourages and supports creativity, innovation, critical thinking and a healthy workplace.
  • Promotes exemplary interpersonal relationships by modeling professional behavior and practices at all times.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Expresses ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
  • Selects appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
  • Listens and comprehends effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents, family members, coworkers and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Can easily organize workloads, set priorities and develop working schedules.
