Our clients include Indigenous and non-Indigenous governments and enterprises, industry (mining, forestry, oil and gas), and large infrastructure developers. Aski operates a business integrating sustainable development and the environment, seeking 21st-century solutions while engaging with traditional and scientific approaches.ABOUT THE ROLEAski is seeking an environmental professional specializing in aquatic programs to support a growing portfolio of projects, including operational and compliance monitoring programs, aquatic impact assessments, habitat offsetting, and restoration initiatives. Working in close cooperation and reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager, Environment, the ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter ready to take independent initiative and help grow the water department by participating in and leading field programs, compiling, managing, and interpreting environmental data, composing technical reports, providing technical guidance, and actively supporting management efforts in growing the Aski aquatic team.Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a variety of aquatic management plans, including but not limited to: sampling programs, assessments, compliance monitoring, water quality, and habitat offsetting and restoration initiatives
  • Lead field programs across northeastern British Columbia, ensuring technical excellence, safety, and quality of deliveries
  • Compile, manage, and interpret environmental data, and compose technical reports
  • Provide technical guidance to internal and external teams on programs, environmental protection, and permitting
  • Assist the senior Project Manager in business development initiatives such as proposals and in developing Aski’s service offer in the sector
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to new and junior staff
  • Participate and foster participation of community members and integrate indigenous approaches into work plans
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of technical diploma or undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental discipline, such as fisheries, aquatic ecology, environmental science, or ecotoxicology.
  • Four to eight years of relevant work experience, preferably in a professional consulting context.
  • Relevant professional designation in Alberta or British Columbia or eligibility for registration (e.g., P.Biol, RPBio, EP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of federal and provincial environmental legislation and environmental impact assessment processes.
  • Appropriate qualifications for work in Alberta and British Columbia and a valid
Canadian driver’s license.
  • Ability and interest to work in a growing consulting environment requiring flexibility, teamwork, and fieldwork in remote natural settings.
  • Motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and a desire to take on greater responsibility and authority with increasing experience.
The ideal candidate for this position is in the Peace Region of northeastern BC; however, all candidates from western Canada will be considered.
