Job Description

Ventura Land & Developments is expanding their team to include a Finance and Accounting Manager.Ventura Land Company is a Manitoba-based land development company with communities in LaSalle, Dugald, Stonewall, and Winnipeg. Ventura Developments is a multi-family development company that specializes in urban infill in mature communities, as well as greenfield development in new communities. For more information on our organization go to http://www.ventura.mb.ca/The RoleReporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Finance and Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting team to ensure the full cycle accounting process and general ledger period end close is completed efficiently and accurately on a timely basis.The successful candidate will also ensure all accounting procedures are documented and updated regularly and will oversee the successful integration of new production software into the general ledger.You will be responsible for the accounting, financial analysis, and investment reporting of the management company as well as the portfolio companies.In this role, you will report to the VP Finance regularly in the following capacity:

  • Be responsible for daily outputs, such as transaction processing and recording, account analysis and reconciliations, variance investigations and analysis
  • Ensure monthly reconciliations of the cash, equity, debt, and intercompany account balances as well as general ledger account balances are completed
  • Prepare and develop financial and management reporting, analytical commentary, and ad hoc analysis as required by management and stakeholders
  • Monitor and maintain the operating budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare non-consolidated legal entity financial statements and related supporting working papers, as well as external accountant packages
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance from a recognized University, as well as a Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience at the intermediate level
  • Experience in finance and real estate development is necessary
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) in English
  • Self-starter, ability to work and thrive in a changing environment
