Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOBDelta 9 Bio-Tech Inc. is looking for a Front-Line Manager with operational knowledge and experience in cannabis production and/or processing to oversee the organization and general operations of the assigned department at Delta 9 Biotech. Reporting to the VP of Operations, Front Line Managers are responsible for providing leadership and training to their personnel to ensure optimum performance and compliance, while meeting budget requirements and timelines. They are responsible for taking necessary corrective actions for all operational issues. Front Line Mangers are responsible for the optimal functioning of their team, while working in collaboration with the other Front-Line Mangers.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strong knowledge or experience of large-scale commercial manufacturing, or agricultural operations
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve all aspects of the Delta 9 facility and establish a culture where all personnel are involved in continuous improvement
  • Provide oversight and decision making to support the VP of Operations
  • Accountable for production costs, labour, and operational results
  • Schedule and organize staff to meet department goals/targets
  • Build a positive work culture that prioritizes the well-being of employees, supports all levels and departments within the organization, and enforces polices in place that encourage empathy, trust, respect, and support
  • Develop employees through certifications, coaching, and providing clear roles with consistent support and succession planning
  • Foster positive employee relations by treating all employees with respect, providing timely feedback and grievance resolution
  • Hold employees accountable and drive performance using metrics tied to operational vision
  • Develop a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with legislative bodies such as Employment Standards, WCB, and Workplace Health & Safety
  • Continuously seek to improve operational results and efficiencies
  • Ensure SOP’s reflect operations and are adhered to and works closely with QA to ensure compliance
  • Audits processes to ensure best practices
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities, setting clear expectations of the work to be done with the production team to ensure product quality
  • Speak with contractors and communicate any potential problems
  • Lead the recruiting and hiring process of staff with the support of Human Resources
  • Selecting, ordering, and purchasing material in cooperation with the purchasing department
  • Identifying and scheduling the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Develop budgets to meet operational requirements
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to deal with all types of personalities
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Must have, or be able to quickly obtain Security Clearance under Cannabis Act and Regulations
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in progressive leadership positions, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary education, or relevant/equivalent work experience
  • Project management skills
  • Prior staff management experience
  • Proven track record of handling progressive levels of responsibility and meeting deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, ability to coach
  • Strong organizational, executional, and planning abilities with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident and outgoing personality
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as editing, research and analytical skills
  • Work exceptionally well independently, and able to foster collaboration across a diverse team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite
  • Awareness of industry’s latest technology trends and applications
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work as a team to support a common goal
ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to build a positive work culture that prioritizes the well-being of employees, supports all levels and departments within the organization, and enforces polices in place that encourage empathy, trust, respect, and support
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Degree or diploma in Management or Business an asset
  • Security Clearance under Cannabis Act and Regulations
  • Experience with AMPLE Organics an asset
