We are looking for individuals who have an interest and experience in caring for people with Dementia and a desire to work with Residents exhibiting responsive behaviours while working in a proactive program model.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report to Unit Coordinator
  • Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with Extendicare policies and procedures and job routines as outlined on resident Care Plan
  • Monitor, report changes in the resident’s physical or mental condition to the Unit Nurse
  • Performs charting duties accurately and clearly on the Health Record
  • Participates in evaluating care and/or services provided by the Nursing department to residents under the Quality Assurance Program
  • Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma or Certificate in Health Care Aide Certificate
  • Previous Long Term Care and/or Mental Health experience an asset
  • Experience in working with Residents who exhibit responsive behaviours
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties safely without injury to self, co-worker or residents
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters relating to the facility, residents and families
  • Current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check & Adult Abuse
