Job Description

HEALTH CARE AIDES-EXTENDICARE TUXEDO VILLAApplicants are invited to apply for the following positions available at our Personal Care Home serving 213 residents from the city and community of Winnipeg, Manitoba.0.4 EFT Part Time Permanent Day0.4 EFT Part Time Term DayUnder the direction of the RN/RPN/LPN, ADOC and DOC, the Health Care Aide provides hands on quality care. In addition,The health care aide works collaboratively with each team member in providing elderly centred care in the Long-Term Care FacilityRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures resident care is provided within established policies and procedures and job routines as outlined in the resident’s care plan.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene, meals, ambulation, and other care treatments as required
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, adheres to infection control procedures and follows provincial WS &H guidelines/regulations
  • Monitors, completes daily assessments, and reports all changes in physical or mental condition to the supervisor
  • Orient and train new personnel and participate in in-service education
  • Participates in team huddles, interdisciplinary care reviews, committees and meetings as required
  • Adheres to ‘Standards of Employee Conduct” and Elder Bill of Rights in the home
  • Responsible for the development and upgrading of his/her knowledge and skills
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum required hours in Manitoba of theory & practicum
  • Experience working with seniors in the long-term care setting
  • Knowledgeable of the principles and philosophy of long-term care.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Utilizes communication skills effectively to establish and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, co-workers, and the public.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
  • Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties safely without injury to self, co-workers, or residents.
  • Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g., lifting/transferring clients, bathing/dressing, toileting, etc
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters relating to the facility, residents, and families
  • A satisfactory work record is required.
  • Must be able to communicate, understand and write in English
  • Current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check & Adult Abuse
