We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewReporting to the Corporate Facilities Manager, the incumbent is responsible for maintenance of the health records, the release of client information, the provision of organizational medico-legal correspondence: the auditing of health records, the administration of health records organizational policies and procedures; liaison with all MATC programs for health record issues; data entry of client related information into MATC’s clinical data base; submission of required data to Manitoba Health and establishment of professional working relationships within the organization. Abides by the Code of Ethics set by the Canadian Health Information Management Association. These functions are undertaken consistent with the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre’s established philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures. Performs Privacy Officer duties. Performs Information Analyst duties.Responsible for opening, coding, and data entry of client related information, and the maintenance of health records.Responsible for all aspects of provision of medico–legal correspondence.Performance of quality assurance function.Performance of statistical analysis.Administration of Health Information Management organizational policies and procedures.Acts as a resource to staff regarding all aspects of Health Information Management.Establishment of professional working relationships within the organization.ExperienceMinimum two years experience in a variety of areas of Health Information Management.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program / Health Records Technician Program or equivalent.Certification/Licensure/RegistrationCertification and active member with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).Qualifications and SkillsExperience in coding and abstracting using ICD-10-CM coding classification in conjunction with the Manitoba Health Information System (MHIS) and Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).Thorough understanding of PHIA and the Mental Health Act.Demonstrated competence and knowledge in computer applications, Crystal Reporting and SQL software.Physical RequirementsTravelling between various offices site may be necessary.The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above.
