Job Description

This position contributes to the efficient operation of the department by ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe home-like environment, within an interdisciplinary, resident-focused team, consistent with the Mission and Vision and Values of Golden Door Geriatric Centre.MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:· Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights, facility mission and endeavours to promote it to ensure resident satisfaction. · Performs cleaning duties that are resident focused, maintaining a home-like environment and respecting the Resident Bill of Rights.· Performs cleaning duties that meet provincial standards and infection control principles.· Performs established daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning requirements.· Prepare rooms for meetings as instructed by manager.· Sort recyclable items and place in recycling bins.· Uses supplies in a cost-efficient manner and advises manager of required supplies and abnormal usage.· Utilizes professional communication to establish a working relationship with resident/families and co-workers for the purpose of meeting the resident needs, ensuring respect, dignity, individuality of each resident and staff member.· Participates with the multidisciplinary team in meeting the resident’s daily personal care needs and individual preferences.· Supports continuous quality improvement in the department by providing constructive ideas and solutions to identified problems and challenges involving the provision of housekeeping services· Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety.· Establishing and maintaining good team relationships as well as interdepartmental relationships· Participates in continuing education relevant to LTC, to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced.· Orients/supports new staff in their job responsibilities, and reports need for additional training to Manager, as required.· Performs other related duties as required to assist in the provision of quality care services to the residents of Golden Door Geriatric Centre and as they relate to the requirements of the position.· Annually is required to participate in mandatory education. This is a requirement in accordance with standards established by Manitoba Health and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and a conditioning of ongoing employment.REQUIREDMinimum grade XI education.Possess excellent organizational skills.Physical and mental health to meet position demandsGenuine interest in and concern for residentsMust have good attendance in present positionDemonstrated ability to verbally communicate in EnglishDemonstrated ability to read and understand written and verbal instructionsAbility to establish and maintain positive working relationshipsMaintain a professional appearance.PREFERRED: Housekeeping and Laundry experience in a health care facility.Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification or 9/10th of the LawThere are 4 positions available. They are evening positions and the hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on a 2 week rotation as follows: Pos 1 - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, SaturdayPos 2 - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, SaturdayPos 3 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, TuesdayPos 4 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, TuesdayJob Types: Part-time, PermanentPart-time hours: 18 per weekSalary: $15.15-$17.05 per hourBenefits:
