Job Description

We listen to our customers and pride ourselves on taking their suggestions into the designer’s studios to create innovative new products that meet the needs of each and every person that purchases one of our garments.Position Objectives Summary: Works as part of the Product Category/Brand team(s) reporting to the Senior Merchandising Manager and partnering with the Pattern Maker, and Graphic Designer as needed. Collaborates with the Senior Merchandise Manager and Sales team on the creation of new styles and the update of existing styles taking into account industry trends and customers needs. Using all this input, prepares and forwards all relevant materials and required documentation to makers and suppliers concerning production to facilitate the timely and seamless import and export of product.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities :Coordinates the specification and sourcing requirements as determined by the Senior Merchandise Manager(s) for communication to internal and external contacts and suppliers.

  • Create spec packages for new styles and update specs of existing styles.
  • Coordinates pattern development on new and updated styles as needed.
  • Works with the Graphic Designer on new labels and hangtags and style sketches as needed.
  • Requests samples and sources appropriate fabrics and trims for samples.
  • Review customer manuals, guidelines, and protocols on relevant programs and ensure a discussion on compliance to requirements occurs.
  • Send specs, patterns, label and hang tag artwork and samples to makers and suppliers for costing and production.
  • Send approval letter signed by Merchandising Manager to Makers & Suppliers
  • Prepare and distribute style authorization document and does style set up to style master.
  • Writes Purchase Orders, reviews for accuracy with the Merchandise Manager (per the Responsibility & Accountability Matrix) and submits to Traffic Manager for shipment scheduling. Maintains projected cost sheets in the cost book.
  • Arrange for the testing of fabric and review test results with Merchandising Manager.
  • Send Quality reports and communicate with QC department and makers/ suppliers on any issues with samples, and with production overseas.
Approve all samples, headers and trim cards with Merchandising ManagerSets up and maintains order tracking sheets, by season, to monitor receipt, approval and progress of all stages in product life cycle.
  • Escalate any unresolved internal or supplier issue which affects the product or order to the VP Import Operations.
  • Follow up with makers on any missing submissions of fabrics, trims, pp/bulk samples.
  • This includes checking the weekly production schedules to ensure production and deliveries are on time. Inform Traffic Manager of any delays that will effect shipments and ensure the Merchandise Manager has approved delays with the Factory.
Additional Responsibilities/Duties :
  • Schedule fit meetings and request changes to styles
  • Make changes or amendments to specs or P.Os as required.
  • Promptly inform the Import Traffic Manager by e-mail of any changes to Purchase Orders.
  • Checks and sends tickets and carton labels to Orient suppliers.
Required Skills/Abilities :
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effectively work as a Team Player and independently.
  • Comfortable working with deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Must be meticulous on assigned tasks
  • Ability to interpret and understand patterns and drawings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Has the ability to learn and use the BlueCherry and Acumatica applications.
Required Qualifications : Apparel Production Diploma or equivalent trainingKnowledge and Experience :
  • Ideally 1 – 2 years garment construction experience or textile background or 2-4 years in manufacturing working with product specifications through to production.
  • Experience communicating with off shore suppliers via e-mail, fax and phone.
