  • A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree equivalencyEXPERIENCE
  • *Significant contiguous experience in the inspection and grading of grains.
  • Significant contiguous experience is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related grain inspection activities, which are normally acquired over a period of two (2) years at the working level or equivalent of a PI CGC-03 Grain Inspector, or above.

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the work to be performed.
Degree equivalencyEXPERIENCE
  • *Substantial contiguous experience in the inspection and grading of grains.
  • Experience in liaising with various levels of grain industry management, other government departments or producer organizations.
  • Experience in the development of technical grain grading materials and the delivery of technical grain grading seminars.
  • Experience in the operation of grain elevators and their sampling systems.
  • Experience as a member of a project team or committee.
  • Substantial contiguous experience is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related grain inspection activities, which are normally acquired over a period of five (5) years at the working level or equivalent of a PI CGC-03 Grain Inspector, or above.

Conditions of employmentReliability Status security clearance
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain, in good standing, the appropriate security requirements for access to any port or work related site.
  • Valid drivers’ license or personal mobility in the time and manner normally associated with possession and use of a drivers’ license.
  • Ability, availability, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the performance of duties
  • Ability, availability and willingness to work overtime, FREQUENTLY and as required, often on short notice.
  • Ability, availability and willingness to work shifts characterized by irregular hours (e.g., nights, weekends, statutory holidays) or be on standby on a 24/7 basis as required
  • Availability and willingness to partake in waterfront vessel loading activities when required
  • Ability and willingness to FREQUENTLY travel as required, often on short notice, including travel to industrial third party worksites, for extended periods regionally, nationally and at times internationally using all modes of transportation
  • Ability and willingness to work in an industrial environment under physically demanding conditions (indoor and outdoor) with exposure to grain dust, soil, and other related irritants (ex. Sulphur or Coal)
  • Ability and willingness to wear appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment. Known allergies and/or environmental sensitivities must be reported to management and controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and medication, and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
  • Ability and willingness to move and lift items up to 20 kg (ex. grain sample bags)
  • Ability and willingness to climb ladders and work, occasionally, at heights above 3 meters and/or within close quarters in grain handling facilities or vessels.
