Job Description

Description Working with other technology support staff in the Learning and Information Technologies (LIT) Department, the Instructional Technology Assistant is responsible for support and training for clients using divisional hardware and software. Clients include all staff members, school trustees, and senior administration. Support and training includes:

  • Providing telephone and remote desktop assistance (help desk)
  • Developing support materials (manuals, videos, presentations, etc.)
  • Supporting clients one-on-one, in person or on the phone
  • Providing group training sessions
The ITA is also responsible for various Project Support tasks, including research, configuration, testing and training.The ITA supports an eclectic array of hardware and software in both instructional and administrative settings. Support for special events may occasionally occur after regular school hours and/or during the evening.The ITAs are the public voice of the LIT Department and are responsible for composing and distributing most IT‑related communiqués and information. ITAs also act as a liaison for vendors, manufacturers, colleagues, and educators.Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site, remote, and telephone support for all staff
  • Provide help desk support for proprietary Division hardware and software
  • Develop and provide manuals, presentations, and workshops for hardware and software
  • Prepare and deliver technology-based workshops for Division staff in large and small groups
  • Prepare messages and information packages for all staff on IT issues
  • Advise schools regarding equipment use when requested
  • Provide training for the use of audio-visual equipment for special events
  • Act as the user’s voice and provide feedback to the project implementation team.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Learning and Information Technologies
Help Desk-Supported Hardware and Software (partial list)
  • PCs, Macs, printers, projectors, interactive whiteboards, cameras, mobile devices (iOS, Android), other equipment
  • Mayet Student Information System
  • Pembina Trails custom applications (approximately 45)
  • Microsoft Windows, Office, and SharePoint
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Unified Communications (all hard & soft phones)
  • Web pages, HTML, and online forms
  • WebCRD, SmartFind Express, other Division systems
  • A wide array of educational tools and software
Position Requirements
  • Formal Education & Certification
  • College diploma or university degree in computer science or 3 years equivalent work experience
  • IT-specific certifications such as ITIL, MCP, or A+ are highly desirable
  • Communications, training, or technical writing certifications are highly desirable
Knowledge & Experience
  • Demonstrated technology experience including Microsoft Office and education software, proprietary enterprise level software.
  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and rectifying hardware and software issues with a broad range of computer platforms, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with delivering software training.
  • Experience with Mayet Student Information System is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in K-12 education is highly desirable.

Other requirements
  • Physical ability to move equipment weighing as much as 40 kg.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is a requirement.
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $24.28-$29.17 per hourSchedule:
