As the Systems Administrator [MH1] for Powerland you job will be to oversee the operation of Powerland’s corporate network infrastructure and ensure the functionality of all systems for its users. You will handle the day-to-day requests from users, maintain the current infrastructure and plan and execute software and hardware upgrades and replacement. You will also actively resolve problems and issues within our environment to limit work disruptions for our users.Powerland’s internal systems represent, in addition to internal business systems, demonstration, lab, and test equipment from our suppliers that Powerland’s staff use to provide both customer proofs of concept as well as internal skills development. As a result, the Systems Administrator will be required to learn and maintain equipment and software targeting a broad range of use cases from small and medium business to large enterprise. This represents a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience with world class and disruptive technologies before most, and provides the ideal candidate with exciting opportunities.Powerland’s internal business systems run on standard industry technologies, and are a mix of on-premise systems and Office 365 (including SharePoint Online and Teams), the maintenance and management of which will be under the purview of the Systems Administrator.Responsibilities: The Systems Administrator’s responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for support, maintenance, and management of all Server, Storage and Network infrastructure across the corporate and lab networks, adhering to industry best practice and internal standards
  • Provide remote and onsite support to customers as needed, including occasional billable work for Powerland’s customers
  • Responsible for follow up of escalated issues
  • Provide after-hours coverage as needed for emergencies
  • Maintain a knowledge base for handling support issues for the installed base of equipment, software, and services.
  • Ensure that all actions and discussions pertaining to issues are completely documented in our ticketing system
  • Ensure customer inquiries are responded to within established time frames and customer care and technical support service levels are achieved
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • IT generalist experience with personal computers, server infrastructure, networking, security, cloud services and virtualization (VMware)
  • 5 years of experience is expected, but education and depth of knowledge are key
  • Experience with securing data, network access and backup systems in company environments, including handling of customer data.
  • Maintenance of the systems is a key responsibility of this position, and so the successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to maintain an awareness of security vulnerability announcements and executing remediation according to vendor guidance.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows client OS (10 and 11), Windows Server 2008-2019, Active Directory, Exchange and Office 365, VMware and HPE/Aruba/Dell infrastructure, SMB and/or enterprise firewall products (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, Ubiquiti, etc…)
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong listening skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to handle prioritization of multiple tasks
  • Perform in an effective and timely manner all the tasks required
  • Exhibit strong reasoning ability by clearly defining problems, analyzing data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (for the purposes of handling equipment in an office and server room environment without a server lift)
  • Must speak fluent English
  • A clear criminal record check for this position
  • Industry related training and certifications an asset
  • Managed Services experience an asset
