Job Description

Great entry (or intermediate) level computer support technician opportunity with a small, dynamic, award-winning & industry-leading technology company, willing to invest the time and energy to train and develop the right talent. Ongoing training, both formal and informal, will be provided.Summary: Working with a team of support technicians, implementation specialists and developers, you will help our small and medium sized retail client base exploit the best Point of Sale (PoS) software and hardware in the world in both their bricks & mortar & on-line stores.We will consider both technical and non-technical experience in selecting the right candidate for this opportunity, however, there are a few absolute requirements: You must live within a reasonable commute of our offices (i.e. Winnipeg, surrounding area) You must have a passion for learning new technology. You must be able to deliver superior customer service. In addition, your written and verbal communications skills must be strong. A knack for problem solving is also important.Non-technical skills seen as beneficial to the role will be given a great deal of consideration.Expectations (must have)· Strong computer skills/Windows environment, esp. troubleshooting· Comfortable dealing with customers even under occasionally stressful circumstances.· Able to work primarily from our North Winnipeg offices.· Ability to work from home as directed (high-speed internet, appropriate work area)· Willingness to embrace an entry level roll· Work hours Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, less your 1-hour lunch, subject to change· Willingness to take evening or weekend special assignments, as directed (infrequent)· Willingness to work on-call shifts approximately 1 out of every 5-6 weeks once the necessary skill sets are developed (approx.. 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM, i.e. 7days x 17hrs)Experience In (Some Of) the Following Will Support Your Application: · IT support/technical support in a Windows based environment incl. troubleshooting· Knowledge of database administration (eg. SQL)· Experience with computer hardware (building PCs, troubleshooting, upgrading)· Retail experience, especially in a supervisory or management role (duties might include managing operations, training staff, using sales or inventory related reports, marketing, merchandising)· Experience with retail technology, especially Point of Sales systems or on-line operations· Financial oriented responsibilities (bookkeeping, budgeting/reconciling, etc.)· Experience with IT projects or IT operations· Knowledge of/experience with website design or development· eCommerce experience (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, etc.)Basic Non-Technical Skills Important For This Role· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team· Great phone manners· Ability to manage multiple tasks, including adjusting and re-adjusting priorities as business needs dictate (i.e. strong organizational skills!)Skills you’ll be expected to develop:· Expert level Point of Sales skills (troubleshooting, administration, configuration, reporting, etc.)· Crystal Reports (use of or support of)· Nice Label (use of or support of)· PC and/or Server hardware knowledge including experience troubleshooting, esp. remotely· Printers (troubleshooting, configuration with networked printers), esp.
