Do you have a passion for Information Security Do you have a degree or diploma in Computing, Engineering, or a related STEM field Do you inspire a high degree of trust in an information sensitive environment Are you able to communicate orally and in writing under challenging circumstances Are you self-directed and interested in helping establish an innovative shared Security Operations Centre (SOC) for the Post-Secondary Sector in Manitoba If so, then this position may be ideal for you.Junior Security Analyst (2 year full-time contractual position)Reporting jointly to the CEO and CISO of MRnet Inc. and working closely with staff at all participating Manitoba Post-Secondary Institutions and MERLIN, you will be responsible for daily operational responsibilities of the newly established shared Security Operations Centre. This includes monitoring of the security logs, recognizing anomalies and incidents, reporting them to institutional contacts, and working with them to establish baselines, false positives, bona fide incidents, and remedial activities. As you familiarize yourself with the institutional needs and SOC software tools, you will enhance the service by automating alerts, searches, dashboards, and reporting on benchmarks and key performance indicators.The position is primarily on-site at MERLIN headquarters. Periodic work-from-home can be arranged. Training and opportunities for appropriate certification will be available. Documented Information Security accomplishments are an asset, but no specific experience is required. This position is restricted to Canadian citizens or permanent residents and will require a satisfactory criminal background check.
