POSITION TITLE:Lab AssistantINTERNAL CLOSING DATE:June 15, 2021LOCATIONS:Seasons of Tuxedo1-515 Sterling Lyon ParkwayCLASSIFICATION:Full-Time, Term (12 Months)DEPARTMENT:Laboratory Health Service CentreCOMPENSATION:As per Collective AgreementWORKING SCHEDULE:Monday to Friday, 7:15am to 15:15pm(37.5 hours per week)RESPONSIBILITIES:Able to collect appropriate information from patients including demographics and appropriate clinical information. Processes and prepares specimens for delivery to the lab. Performs a variety of routine laboratory procedures (Data Entry, labelling and barcoding).KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Able to collect appropriate information from patients including demographics and appropriate clinical information.Follows all guidelines for handling of infectious materials.Required to observe all safety precautions in the performance of all duties.Performs all routine procedures, (Data Entry, labelling and barcoding).Other duties as assigned.SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:KnowledgePrevious customer service experience is an asset.Social Processing SkillsAbility to multitask and work in a team environmentAttention to detail and organizational skills are essential.Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently.Excellent communication skillsMust be capable of working cooperatively, courteously, and tactfully with patients, nurses, physicians, and other laboratory personnel.***Please refer to Article 2 and 7 of the Collective Agreement regarding temporary positions, job postings, promotions and transfers***
