Valard is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy.Reporting to the crew foreman this position has minimal experience in Telecommunications/ Construction. We will teach construction methods, safe work applications and give this technician the tools to grow with the company. This position requires a hard working individual that has a good attitude and is willing to work in all safe climactic conditionsRequirementsClass 3 LicensePossess a good working attitudeBe willing to listen and learn safe work techniques and constructions methodsFollow directions from senior techs and the crew foremenLearn to do minor maintenance on vehicles and equipmentClean trucks and tool trailersBe willing to work a 10 hour day and different type of work shiftsBe able to work in all climactic conditionsBe willing to travel outside of their home areaBe willing to handle trucks and tools respectfully and responsiblyThe technician must be punctual and on timeADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Apprenticeship and Training will be available if the technician is willing to commitBe willing to learn the use of several power and motorized tools and equipmentPlacing telecom structures and pedestalsCoupling conduit and pulling several different types of cablesBe willing with the proper training to access confined spaces and plant site conditionsFollow safe working procedures while around heavy equipment and large truckEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:This position requires minor experience in construction and at least a grade 10 education or equivalent field experience.
