Job Description

Tundra Oil & Gas is a Manitoba-based oil and gas exploration and production company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Winnipeg-based James Richardson & Sons, Limited. We are committed to working together and to getting everyone home safe every day.Tundra is seeking to fill a Land Analyst position preferably based out of our Winnipeg, Manitoba or Calgary, Alberta office. In this position, you will be part of a multifaceted team working closely with both internal and external stakeholders responsible for the acquisition, management, and optimization of Tundra’s land base. The incumbent in this role will be eligible to participate in Tundra’s flexible hybrid work schedule.Reporting to the Manager, Land Administration, some specific duties and responsibilities of the Land Analyst include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of land administration principles and government regulations;
  • Draft, prepare and interpret legal land documents such as mineral and surface leases, crossing agreements, units and pooling agreements and related Land Titles tasks;
  • Support drilling activities with mineral title research and required title curity workflows;
  • Support and administer the freehold, crown and federal land acquisition process and related obligations, including offset tracking;
  • Communicate with key stakeholders such as landowners, regulatory officials, government agencies, and project managers across all areas of the company;
  • Collaborate with Land Negotiators and business teams to manage land expiries, well licensing and drilling requirements, administer third party notices, and support in acquisition and divestiture processes as required;
  • Prepare, process and track ION’s with an in-depth knowledge of penalty concepts and issues;
  • Track third party regulatory approvals for Enhanced Recovery, Spacing Modification and Conversion applications;
  • Identify and develop processes and procedural enhancements to improve efficiencies within the land team;
  • Share your knowledge with peers as well as providing mentorship to the junior members of the team;
  • Travel to the Winnipeg head office will be required.
Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
  • Land related post- secondary education with a minimum 15 years related experience if preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • You have demonstrated your ability to work independently while maintaining a strong relationship with your direct line supervisor in a remote office structure.
  • You are proficient with tools such as Accumap, SK IRIS and a variety of land systems including CS Land.
  • Your strong working knowledge of digital workflows, administrative workflows for data management such as mail merge, and MS Word and Excel is exemplary.
  • You are well organized, with a high attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to seek appropriate guidance as required.
  • You are an enthusiastic, personable, team-oriented individual who enjoys identifying opportunities and working collaboratively to implement effective solutions.
  • Your membership in CAPL and/or CAPLA, along with relevant volunteer experience, are assets.
