We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewDirectly accountable to the Chief Nursing officer or Chief Allied Health Officer, the Manager of Patient Care is accountable for the provision of care and services within the respective program. Care delivery to the designated population is provided within available resources and is facilitated by innovative leadership and management principles. Collaboration with a variety of stakeholders within the Centre and the region is paramount to achieving success.Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (e.g. utilizing personal, protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies their Manager or their designates (i.e. supervisors) of all occurrences, injuries illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co workers, or any others who enter the premises.Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice in a health care discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership in promotion of quality practice environments that support professional practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership is establishing "best practices".
  • Demonstrated leadership in fostering an open and respectful climate where care is delivered in a manner sensitive to diversity.
  • Demonstrated leadership in promoting interdisciplinary practice.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with others in the acquisition, allocation and utilization of fiscal and human resources.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant health-care discipline required.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current registration with professional registering body required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge and support of:
    • The vision, values, goals, and objectives of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the Deer Lodge Centre.
    • The Deer Lodge Centres Mission Statement, Residents Bill of Rights and Code of Conduct.
    • Personal Health Information Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with complex individual and organization relations.
  • Independent and collaborative decision-making skills. Leadership and management skills in health-care setting.
Physical Requirements
  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, etc.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated patients/residents/staff/visitors.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
