Job Description

TITLE: MOVING COORDINATORDEPARTMENT: EDUCATION AND TRAININGPROGRAM: RAY WORKSREPORTING TO: SOCIAL ENTERPRISE MANAGER AND DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND TRAININGHOURS: FULL-TIME, 37.5 HOURS WEEKLY, ONE YEAR TERM WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSIONSCHEDULE: STANDARD HOURS MONDAY – FRIDAY, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, SOME EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS MAY BE REQUIREDHOURLY WAGE: $21.20 PER HOUR, DEPENDENT ON QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEABOUT RAY Mission: To provide youth with what they need, on their terms, to better their lives.Vision: RaY’s vision is that all youth have the opportunity to live a healthy and secure life; that they are given the chance to develop a belief in themselves through tools, information and programs that build personal capacity in order to be self-sufficient and no longer need RaY’s services.ABOUT THE ROLE The Moving Coordinator will oversee the operations of the RaY Works services that involve inventory control and moving/hauling duties under the direction of the Social Enterprise Manager. The Moving Coordinator will have skills in both youth care and moving/hauling services and will be expected to provide a level of supervision that creates an atmosphere of mentorship, training and support to the program team and participants. Through the Level Up! Program, RaY assists at-risk youth who have become street-entrenched, marginalized, and who are often overlooked by other employment development programs. The Level Up! program will actively recruit hard to reach youth and help them develop employability skills that will lead to paid employment or promote a return to school to complete their education.RaY is a fast-paced environment which depends on reliable, open-minded, flexible and team-oriented individuals to provide youth with what they need, on their terms, to better their lives.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Experience working within the not-for-profit sector and the moving industry
  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Desired certification: Level C-CPR, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, Stages of Change/Motivational Interviewing
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a similar role with a provision of community-based services
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and comfortability driving moving trucks
  • Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Check and Driver’s Abstract
  • Proficiency in MS Office and general comfort with technology and apps
  • Ability to navigate heavy lifting, moving and the coordination of moves from point A to point B
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Has the ability to build relationships with customers and youth staff
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth or other at-risk populations
  • Responsible, organized, and detail oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills
  • Ability to function independently while also working as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Must have a familiarity of resources that are available to youth in Winnipeg, specifically employment services.
  • Ability to safely operate a large moving truck
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
  • Knowledge of safe work practices when it comes to heavy lifting, packing and preventing workplace injuries
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe responsibilities of the Moving Coordinator include, but are not limited to the following:MENTORING AND PARTICIPANT SUPERVISION
  • Build trusting relationships with participants who access services and resources through RaY
  • Provide direction, supervision and training to the youth participants entering the moving/hauling market
  • Provide updates to case managers regarding participants working with RaY Works which will include advocacy, support with employment goals and supports when a participant requires access to additional supports.
  • Assist participants in identifying their work-related interests, pinpoint their skills, abilities and aptitude, as well as analyze participants’ strengths and work habits using a strength based, youth centric approach
  • Support action plans established by participants
  • Carry out youth employee evaluations
  • Be involved in the hiring and interview process of youth employees
  • Maintain quality up-to-date documentation on all interactions with participants/customers
MOVING TASKS & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
  • Ensure that all assessments, follow-ups and reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all data collected is entered and reported in a timely manner
  • Ability to manage day to day activities around agency requirements
  • Attend agency and team meetings as required
  • Operate vehicles and mechanical equipment as required to facilitate loading, unloading, and transport of items being moved
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Perform other tasks as assigned which can include, but are not limited to: drop in support, donation pick ups, transportation supports for the agency and other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTSWork conditions and physical requirements of this position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Physical demands: walking, some lifting over 50 lbs
  • Candidate must be willing to obtain child abuse registry, criminal record check, driver’s abstract
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Flexible work schedules are preferred. Work hours will typically be Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm but flexible hours may be required to accommodate for moves and the needs of the agency.
