Job Description

Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYAs a key member of our Smart Bus Technology team, you will manage the coordination of all NFI Connect service deployment and support as well as all technology & business development activities within the Smart Bus Technology team. You will be accountable for supervision and performance of assigned team members, and ensure timely completion and accuracy of assigned tasks at all phases of NFI Connect product oversight.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Strategize, evaluate, develop, and execute innovative connected vehicle technology and telematics architecture integration.
  • Direct Smart Bus team development activities to ensure continued enhancement and adoption of NFI Connect product and service offerings across all the NFI Group vehicle product lines and across as many end customers/users as possible.
  • Plan and execute connected vehicle and telematics development on a project basis with proper definition, scope of work, schedule, prototyping & validation plans.
  • Plan Smart Bus team projects and ensure all resources are being used productively to the fullest as well as all processes, and schedules are on time to meet deadlines; establish long- and short-term goals for all Smart Bus and NFI Connect projects.
  • Create business plans and value propositions with regards to new and existing connected vehicle technology and services.
  • Work with the bid team to evaluate telematics and NFI Connect requirements in new bids, approve any new or significant technical content as well as A/E (approved equal) content.
  • Interpret customer specifications, Technical Summaries, vendor quotations and other contract documents to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Plan budget, revenue and EBITDA targets for Smart Bus team and oversee NFI Connect sales and purchase orders.
  • Participate in design reviews, functional safety evaluations for ISO26262 compliance and cybersecurity threat assessments.
  • Participate in hiring, training and development of new employees, monitor employee’s performance and recommend or initiate personnel action.
  • Provide NFI Connect support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and other departments as required.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on NFI Connect and related connected vehicle issues.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or diploma in Engineering. A combination of education and leadership experience will be considered
  • Five or more years of relevant leadership experience related to essential functions listed above
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with effective interpersonal skills
  • Adept with Microsoft Office, Unigraphics, Oracle, MS Project and/or other related programming software tools
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, effectively prioritize and work efficiently in a high demanding fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers, working well within a team environment
  • Experience with IoT, connected vehicle and IT network architecture & business development knowledge would be considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of software development processes and related programming languages would also be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of transit and coach electrical architecture and networks would be highly desirable
