Job Description

Job Summary:The Operations Manager plans, directs and controls activities of the Division to accomplish budgeted financial objectives. Directs and works with functions such as production, research and development, engineering, quality, maintenance, marketing/sales, human resources, and purchasing, Finance, IT, and Logistics.Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.
  • Directly manage activities of the Production Manager, Production Control Manager, Production Planning Coordinators, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and Safety/Plant Maintenance Manager.
  • Create long-term plans and initiatives to accomplish company goals efficiently.
  • Meet plant budget and production goals, quality requirements, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
  • Responsible for establishing and execution of production schedules.
  • Monitor daily operation schedules for assigned departments for accuracy and ensuring daily operational goals are realized.
  • Implement a new 5S Guide to Lean Manufacturing and Create a Training system for plant employees to ensure employees are performing their jobs properly and following the AMOS instructions.
  • Partner with HR to ensure staffing requirements are met.
  • Support human resources regarding salaries and hourly wages.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to keep employees motivated and dedicated.
  • Partner with Safety Manager to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Partner with Quality Manager to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Communicate new product production plans to Production Supervisor and participate in implementation of new product production.
  • Adhere to the approved operations annual budget and provide budget updates and adjustments as requested by the President.
  • Responsible for product quality and continuous improvements.
  • Propose for approval and execution of capital purchases regarding production equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Support marketing in costing and pricing of products.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including co-chair the Workplace Health and Safety committee, to ensure adequate programs are in place for all safety training.
  • Participate in quarterly Employee Committee meetings to discuss any plant issues and/or labour relations.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education or related work experience.
  • A background in agricultural/automotive equipment manufacturing is a definite asset.
  • Must be a highly motivated, self-driven, intelligent and self-confident individual with an understanding of modern business principles.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ten or more years in operations management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to provide strong leadership, aligned with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and motivating staff.
  • High comfort level working in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Highly motivated individual who possess drive, intelligence, self-confidence and determination.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills and the ability to effectively manage deadlines while multi-tasking daily priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Focus on quality, delivery and cost.
