Visit cpr.ca to see the rail advantages of CP.PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe Manager is responsible for a 24x7 operation of the Network Operations department. The Manager is also responsible for providing timely and accurate train and interchange reporting, processing of customer switch requests, waybilling, and border train documentation. Leadership accountability for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIESResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead the department and provide direction and guidance to establish team priorities and define and manage workload;
  • Regularly review the production standards/metrics with their reports;
  • Adhere to standard Service Level Agreement (SLA) for processing inbound documents and requests;
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities by identifying production opportunities;
  • Liaise with Train and Engine (T&E) Trainmasters and Assistant Trainmasters, managing shift by shift issues to enable effective train movement;
  • Manages labor issues;
  • Act as a point of escalation for all tactical issues on production floor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • University degree preferred and/or 5 years of relevant railway working experience;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Office productivity software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access);
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously;
  • Dedicated experience providing customer service in a similar work environment;
  • Ability to multitask and to work under strict time lines and pressure;
  • Ability to manage conflict and conflicting stakeholder interests;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • Excellent problem solving abilities.
