We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewPerforms ophthalmic diagnostic procedures within the scope of Ophthalmic Assistant Certification. Performs ophthalmic photographic services and the necessary documentation for the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.ExperienceOne (1) to two (2) years of work experience under ophthalmological supervision required.Experience as an ophthalmic photographer or related experience in this area preferred.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)Grade 12.Introductory photography course required or an equivalent combination of photography education, training and experience.It is recommended that, at minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of BLS training.Certification/Licensure/RegistrationJoint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (J.C.A.H.P.O.) Certification required.Qualifications and SkillsProficiency in computer/word processing required.Works within the Centre’s core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.Must be mature and capable of working under minimal supervision.Must show initiative, good judgement, the ability to train, provide instruction, organize his/her work.Must be a team member working cooperatively, courteously and tactfully with patients, hospital personnel and the community.Ability to speak and understand French is preferred.Knowledge of ophthalmic pharmacology required.Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.Physical RequirementsPhysical health to meet the requirements of the position.The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above.
