Job Description

Payroll Associate – Owner Operator Settlement & Company Driver PayrollFor over 64 years, Arnold Bros. We pride ourselves on our inclusive family culture and our ability to be creative.Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Associate is responsible for the computing of trips forCompany Drivers and Owner Operators. This position must ensure both groups are completed with accuracy and on time.Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure ABT owner/operator settlements are recorded accurately and paid on time
  • Compute Owner Operator trips for the pay period under Settlements in TMW and verify accuracy of data by comparing to operations data
  • Review all LCV units to ensure the correct mileage rates are used for single/team units.
  • Balance all miles/hours for the month
  • Manage the administration of all T-check reporting functions for Company Driver and OO.
  • Ensure Company Driver and Owner Operator expenses are audited each month.
  • Audit trip expenses report to actual receipts and apply current US Exchange rate as applicable.
  • Enter expenses into TMW for reimbursement.
  • Ensure ABT Company Driver payroll miles are computed accurately and paid on time
  • Compute Company Driver trips for the current pay period under Settlements in TMW
  • Audit City driver’s timecards/timesheets against the Excel spreadsheets
  • Process miscellaneous charges/reimbursements into TMW.
  • Run Report Manager Stat Holiday report to calculate statutory pay as required.
  • Access ADP to add/delete employees and edit employee records Information from Employee Change

  • Act as back up for hourly/salaried payrolls
The successful candidate will have:
  • Minimum of grade 12 with post-secondary education specifically in payroll an asset
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Designation an asset
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal legislation an asset
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role processing multiple payrolls and performing all payroll functions
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and extreme discretion
  • Extensive knowledge of ADP payroll software
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software (i.e., Great Plains)
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize the daily responsibilities using multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer knowledge & experience specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to manage and lead staff to excellent performance
  • Exceptional problem solving/judgement skills
