They are responsible for ministerial correspondence, actionable reports and advice to senior leaders. The Branch is also responsible for coordinating the Department’s requirements under The Regulatory Accountability Act and providing policy and legislative process support department wide.Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications:Essential:
  • Post-secondary education, preferably at the Masters level, in Criminology or Sociology or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered
  • Experience in research in criminal justice, government, or other public or private agency
  • Experience conducting data analysis and producing reports for senior level officials
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals internal and external to Manitoba Justice
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in tight timeframes
  • Ability to manage politically sensitive issues with confidentiality
Desired:
  • Ability to communicate fluently in French
Duties:Reporting to the Director, the Analyst manages projects by researching, writing and/or coordinating authority seeking documents. They are responsible for ministerial correspondence, monitoring media sources; coordinating briefing material, corporate reports and correspondence within tight timelines. They also undertake special projects as required, including research projects, and data compilation. This work requires an understanding of the current issues and policy objectives of the department and government. They will be required to establish and maintain effective relationships and understanding of the issues and challenges faced by the department. They must meet a high quality standard and undertake this work within a broad departmental perspective.
