Job Description

Further information is available at www.nfi.parts.POSITION SUMMARYAs a key member of our NFI Parts Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of all activities of the Publications Team. You will ensure the established departmental goals are communicated and successfully met by the team.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Organize and ensure all Coordinators effectively plan and prepare their individual team’s project tasks based on the delivery dates in the production schedule.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Manual Set Production Schedule and related files.
  • Assist in creating and managing the Sales Proposals and Contract Deliverables for Publications process tasks as instructed by the Director.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Director to review and discuss upcoming requirements as well as any production related problems along with recommended solutions.
  • Perform staff development and annual performance reviews for the Coordinators and other direct reports. Oversee hiring process, training requirements, and provide recommendations for promotion and/or development.
  • Manage the development of new Publications manuals or other technical documents to ensure new products and methods will keep the Publications department at the forefront within the industry.
  • Assist the Director in the annual departmental operating budget activities and manage the purchases and expenses to ensure budget guidelines and product specifications are adhered to.
  • Oversee general office activities such as security, maintenance, repairs, acquisition of new furniture or equipment.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Educational background in Technical Communications, Technical Writing and/or Business Management related programs. A relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Two or more years of experience in a leadership capacity in a technical publishing environment within the automotive, heavy truck or aircraft manufacturing industry
  • Five or more years of experience as an Editor or Technical Writer in a technical publishing environment within the automotive, heavy truck or aircraft manufacturing industry
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent business management, project management and leadership skills
  • Possess a strong background in technical publishing applications and single source data strategies
  • Excellent knowledge of technical document lifecycle processes
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, effectively prioritize and work efficiently in a high demanding fast-paced team-oriented environment
