Job Description

Capitol Steel Corp. excels at fabrication and erection of unique, complex and heavy structural steel projects. We fabricate, transport and install bridge girders, industrial buildings, hydro-electric dam components and other specialized heavy plate steel products across Canada and export into the USA.Capitol Steel is actively seeking a Purchaser to research, suggest and purchase various goods company wide. The successful candidate will be able to conduct market research, network with vendors, suppliers and service providers and secure various goods and consumables.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researching products, suppliers and services, and acquiring comparison pricing on various goods.
  • Negotiating price, and securing contracts.
  • Coordinating with suppliers and project management staff to ensure timely shipping and receiving.
  • Inspecting deliveries and reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Coordinating with project managers to ensure correct numbers of materials are being ordered in line with production needs.
  • Processing purchase requests and ensuring that documentation and paperwork is kept in line with contract requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in purchasing, production management or a similar role, an asset.
  • Must be able to communicate at an advanced level in English.
  • Must possess strong computer skills with the ability to learn and apply new software.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines and follow strict guidelines.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Overtime and flexibility in schedule will be required.
  • Valid Class 5
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Some overtime will be required.
  • Flexibility in schedule is necessary to meet required deadlines.
  • Class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle.
