We encourage our employees and give them the autonomy to be in the driver’s seat of their own success.We are currently seeking a dedicated Purchasing Agent to join our team who will contribute to overall success of the Purchasing Department by sourcing and obtaining quotes from the industries top suppliers. You will need to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and create long and lasting relationships.What You Will Do:

  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quantity
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers/trades. Negotiate and agree to pricing contracts/estimates, while monitoring the quality of service provided
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and pre-qualify them to determine product availability and terms of sales
  • Keep estimates/contracts/PO’s and use them as reference for the future
  • Develop purchasing strategies and track progresses. Produce pricing comparisons for budgeting purposes and relay to Operations Manager and/or CEO
  • Evaluate pricing and make recommendations to Management based on commercial and technical factors
  • Determine quantity and time of deliveries
  • Maintain the construction budget for each project
  • QuickBooks [Issuance of purchase orders for procurement and expedition of materials and equipment for jobs/Verifying receipt of materials and equipment]
  • Meet with subcontractors and suppliers as necessary
  • Do accurate takeoffs to ensure budgets are maintained and research new materials for design and cost savings
  • Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification
  • Assist in settling invoice or contract disputes
  • Review technical specifications for raw materials, components, equipment and/ or buildings
  • Handle change order requests
  • Coordinate with design team on project plans for accuracy and completeness
  • Work with site personnel to deal with site issues related to purchasing. (i.e.: Shortages, overages, last minute change orders, etc.)
  • Work in conjunction with the Contracts Department to ensure supplies/material required coincide with contracts awarded. (i.e.: S/I, Labor Only)
You Will Bring:
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role; preferably in the construction industry
  • Familiar with standard procurement concepts, best practices, and techniques
  • Good understanding of all logistic method and import/customs procedures
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and a positive team player
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and key business partners
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
