In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Quality Assurance of the Guidewire InsuranceSuite
  • Ticket Investigation Support
  • Release Support
  • Contribution to Continuous QA Process Improvement
KEY RESPONSITBILITY AREAS: Guidewire InsuranceSuite
  • Participate in the development of Test Plans, Test Scenarios, Test Cases and Scripts relevant to business requirements/solutions.
  • Execute test scripts and document results in a concise and accurate manner (Anticipated Results, Actual Results and Proposed Resolutions).
  • Review the test cases provided by the offshore team to ensure the test coverage.
  • Conduct reviews of the quality assurance work completed by offshore team.
  • Present test results and recommendations to Business Analysts including potential workarounds.
  • Perform thorough regression testing to ensure the overall quality and stability of the products.
  • Participate in the prioritization and triaging of defects based on criticality and risk.
  • Maintenance of automated testing scripts and data.
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing
  • Support the Guidewire upgrade project.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop a strong general understanding of Guidewire Insurance Suite applications, its integrations and in-depth knowledge of one or more of its functional centres.
  • Apply Lean values and practices in exercising the duties of this position. Activities are to be performed with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness and the protection and security of corporate information and assets.
Ticket Investigation Support
  • Support root cause analysis by recreating business scenarios and documenting the test results.
  • Participate in vendor discussions for clarification of questions and defect findings.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and Business Analysts) to identify and document system requirements.
Release Support
  • Estimation of the QA effort of the tickets planned for the releases and to review the estimates provided by the MSA offshore team to complete Quality Assurance tasks.
  • Support the Business Analysts to prepare user documentation for all releases of software ensuring any changes to business workflow have been noted.
  • Work with the onshore and offshore members of our MSA team to communicate and clarify requirements and review solutions and help to ensure overall quality of the delivered requirements.
Contribute to Continuous Improvement**
  • Identify quality assurance process bottlenecks and suggest actions for improvement.
  • Work with the Technology team to implement quality assurance standards and procedures.**
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge on industry standards process, tools and techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that enable and support the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: **
  • 5+ years’ experience in the insurance industry performing in a Quality Assurance Analyst role.
  • Guidewire Associate certificate is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Guidewire Testing framework is considered an asset.
  • Strong desire to add compelling value and meaningfully contribute to departmental and organizational success.**
  • Detail orientated with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.**
  • Completion of post-secondary degree/certificate in computer science, programming, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge in formalized Testing Methodologies with a testing designation such as Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP) is considered an asset
  • Ability to run SQL queries and analyze data
  • Formalized experience in an IT environment where testing of regular releases, hot fixes as well as project responsibilities are standard activities
  • Proven experience with Systems Development Life Cycle, preferably in an Agile or Iterative environment
  • Working knowledge and experience in Jira, SharePoint, Teams, Rally is desired
