Reporting to the Manager, News and Content, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our radio news team, and writing and reporting news on 680 CJOB and Global News. This is a Group 4 unionized position.Youll be working on things like:

  • Ensuring a high standard of quality for our radio newscasts and stories
  • Assisting the manager of news and content with radio news employee development
  • Training radio news employees
  • Daily writing and reporting for multiple platforms
  • Coordination of media and content across all platform
  • May be required to backfill news anchor positions
  • Understand and adhere to Global News’ Journalistic Principles and Practices
  • Represent our brands at public functions
  • Available to work weekdays, evenings, early mornings, and weekends
  • Embrace and demonstrate Corus’ five values
  • Perform other duties as required.
If you have the following...we want to hear from you!
  • Post-secondary education and/or experience in Journalism/Broadcasting or equivalent
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Clear understanding of how to structure and deliver a radio newscast
  • Desire to mentor radio reporters and anchors
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record
  • Ability to meet strict short deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows
  • Passion for broadcast and online journalism and Canadian affairs. You wake up in the middle of the night with good ideas.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to collaborate in a multiplatform newsroom
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment
  • Motivated, self-starter, independent, results-oriented professional
