Job Description

Real Estate Paralegal/Family law legal assistant position with Sternat Manaigre Law Corporation.We are seeking a responsible, experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join our team and lead our growing real estate department and to provide assistance in the area of family law. This potential candidate will work primarily in the area of real estate conveyancing providing paralegal support for sales of residential properties and re-financing transactions with some work in family law. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package among other incentives.Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Prepare and complete documentation for residential real estate purchase, sale and mortgage transactions from beginning to end, helping manage various conveyancing documents, registering and preparing documents and preparing closing final reporting requirements;
  • Independently conducting various searches related to real estate transactions;
  • Title searches;
  • Drafting correspondence and generating trust letters;
  • Analyzing and summarizing searches, identifying issues, and reporting to the lawyer;
  • Managing incoming and outgoing funds, requisitioning funds for closings, mortgage financing etc.;
  • Completing client intake forms;
  • Answering telephone calls and follow up;
  • Taking conveyancing related messages and client inquiries, replying to all messages and following up on all messages;
  • Scheduling appointments; and
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary program as a legal assistant and/or a minimum of three years of residential real estate experience;
  • Strong technical skills and experience in Conveyancing software including Teranet, Unity and Lawyer Done Deal;
  • Experience with LLC portal, Stewart Assyst, Telus Assyst and BGRS;
  • Experience with First Canadian Title and Chicago Title;
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;
  • Proficient in Word, Adobe and E-file document preparation;
  • Solid understanding of Winnipeg land title registration requirements;
  • Capacity to manage many files simultaneously and work well under pressure (i.e. with tight time deadlines) and exercise initiative;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and guidance;
  • Superior attention to detail;
  • Capacity to efficiently perform duties with speed and accuracy;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and independently; and
  • Professional and positive work attitude.
This is a full-time position or part time position, starting immediately. Remuneration will be determined with consideration to skills and experience.
