Job Description

The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (RAMWC) has completed construction of an 86,000 sq. ft facility location on the James A. Richardson International Airport campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is now open to the public. The Museum is a non-profit dedicated to preserving the history of aviation in Western Canada. The new Museum will showcase aircraft and many unique aviation artefacts from its collection, presented from a story-driven approach.The new home of the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is located on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional territory of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Lakota and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.The RoleReporting to the Vice-President of Finance, Human Resources, & Administration and working closely with the President & CEO and Vice-President of Operations and Facilities, the Rentals & Event Specialist will support incoming rental and event requests, plan and stage successful events, collaborate with external event planners and guests, and prospect future clients.Job FunctionsManage incoming requests

  • Engage with incoming rental and event requests
  • Manage all guest needs, highlighting internal partnerships and client requests
Stage and manage all bookings and events
  • Work with internal and external partnerships on set-up prior to event and clean-up post event
  • Oversee staging and event execution (including scheduling, training, and necessary certifications, such as Smart Choices, Food Handlers Certificate, First Aid)
  • Complete client updates and walkthroughs
  • Support the creation and development of critical events documents, such as banquet event orders, timelines, contracts, invoices
  • Oversee cleanliness and sanitization and organization of museum’s on-site Servery and ensure health and safety guidelines and regulations are met
Prospect future bookings and clients
  • Collaborate with key museum staff to implement prospecting lists and strategies to secure new bookings
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Event Management or similar field
  • 3+ years of experience in an event management role with previous responsibility in managing event plans and preparations, event execution, guest support and follow-up, and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated excellence in both verbal and written communications, with superior attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office and internal management tools; experience booking or managing events in a museum setting is considered an asset
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines
  • Remarkable track record for developing, maintaining, and growing relationships with key stakeholders (customers, industry contacts, colleagues, volunteers, etc.)
