We’re looking for innovative team players ready to take some of the most well-known entertainment brands in the country to the next level.Posting Date: November 10, 2021Closing Date: November 24, 2021Position: News Reporter, Weekend AnchorReq ID: 337611Location: CTV Winnipeg, 345 Graham Avenue, WinnipegSalary: Commensurate with qualifications and experienceHours of Work: 40 hours per week. Varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Overtime as requiredResponsibilities:

  • Anchoring weekend newscasts
  • Maintain and developing relationships with key stake holders in various areas of the market including; economic, political, industrial, retail, law enforcement
  • Generating original story ideas for on-air and online presentation
  • Interviewing story subjects; solid script writing and voicing
  • Live reporting
  • Producing, writing and posting editorial content for the station web and social media platforms
  • Assigning weekend video journalists and photojournalists
  • Writing news scripts, intros and show elements for weekend newscasts
  • Vetting news scripts
  • Acting as back-up anchor for other newscasts as required
  • Acting as back-up weather anchor as required
  • Regular weekend and evening assignments
  • Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • A degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program or related television news experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a newsroom setting
  • Previous experience news reporting and anchoring with strong on-air presentation
  • Proven editorial judgement and journalism skills with the ability to maintain high journalistic standards along with a proven ability to use sound and pictures to help tell the story
  • Solid knowledge of broadcast law
  • Must be well versed in viewer engagement through social media
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lead a team and motivate staff
  • Ability to make quick decisions and thrive in a deadline driven team environment
  • In depth knowledge of news and current affairs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license
  • Successful candidate must have a valid passport
