Job Description

Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.Position Overview:This is a part-time position aimed at current UWinnipeg undergraduate students to gain experience in publishing. The research assistant will work as the Editorial Assistant to the journal.Duties:

  • Works with the Editor and Assistant Editor, the editorial team, and working board of juice.
  • Provide administrative support to the Editor and Assistant Editor.
Qualifications
  • Must be a currently-registered University of Winnipeg undergraduate student with first-year English plus other English literature and/or writing courses (declared major not required);
  • Excellent academic performance is an asset;
  • Must be reliable and responsible with a strong commitment to the goal of producing a quality journal on time;
  • Must be able to work on campus (or online if necessary) during the day time and during the week (M-F).
  • Must have basic computer skills (email, word processing, scanning, social media, and website maintenance);
  • Experience with desktop publishing programs Adobe, InDesign, and Photoshop 6.0 is an asset.
Condition(s) of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The period of work will be from October 24, 2022 - September 12, 2023 and the estimated total hours of work will be 25-30.Note: This position is represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada - Research Capacity Unit.Note: The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person.The University of Winnipeg has a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that requires all those coming to designated indoor campus spaces to provide proof they are fully vaccinated.
