Job Description

Competition # 2023-34Department: Property and MaintenancePosition: Security Guard Competition #2023-34Condition: CasualDepartment: Property and MaintenanceLocation: 650 Dufferin AvenueClosing Date: April 5, 2023OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Reporting to the Security Guard Supervisor, the Security Guard is responsible for monitoring SAI properties through foot/mobile patrol and video surveillance.KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Perform regular patrol of SAI properties and residences to assure buildings are secure.
  • Monitor and review security of SAI properties and residences using video surveillance.
  • Maintain public profile as a deterrent to crime.
  • Provide “safe-walk” support to staff and patrons to vehicles and bus stops.
  • Respond and attend to alarms.
  • Respond to security concerns received via email or voicemail.
  • Contact emergency responder if & when required.
  • Maintain proper documentation such as reporting incidents, signing property logbooks, attendance sign in.
  • Observe, document and report suspicious activity.
  • Remove trespassers from premises if safe to do so
  • Protect staff, tenants etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s License and access to own vehicle
  • Valid Security license
  • Training Certificate in Security: minimum 1-year experience in field
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse, Vulnerable Persons check and Criminal records check.
  • First-Aid, CPR, AED training
  • Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physically fit, able to climb stairs, walk around property
  • Basic proficiency in word processing (MS Word), E-mail (Outlook) and Internet
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Successful applicant (s) will also be required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccinations prior to start date.
WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Shift will be overnight 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
