Job Description

PURPOSE and SCOPEManage the department’s processes and employees while ensuring quality product output and adhering to the collective agreement. This position guarantees safety procedures are followed and is responsible for ensuring the safety of employeesPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESThe following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:

  • Lead the daily activities of the shipping co-ordinators ensuring all load zones are booked to capacity
  • Lead and work with the shipping yard supervisor making sure the daily loads are to schedule
  • Work closely with marketing to meet shipping deadlines for North American and Export markets.
  • Be supportive, coach and assist all employees in the office and shipping personal.
  • Promote employee safety
  • Promote employee growth by cross training areas within the department.
  • Develop succession plans for personnel in the department
  • Fill in for the office personnel during absenteeism and approved vacations.
  • Process shipping shortages and damage claims work with marketing and dealers to resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain a Shipping shortage spread sheet report shortage patterns to the appropriate departments.
  • Work with the finance team so credits issue are processed as they are submitted.
  • Complete cycle count requests and investigate variances.
  • Monitor stock levels of kits to support monthly shipping schedules.
  • Support the following Cross functional teams:
  • QMS Administration Team to develop documents for shipping processes
  • Audit team to ship products to their location as requested.
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Kaizens, Continuous Improvements Activities and 5s Audits
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experiences
  • Experience in the transport industries as a Logistics Coordinator, Load Broker and Claims Investigations.
  • Relevant post secondary education in Transportation Policies, Logistics and Risk/Safety Management.
  • Experience in a Leadership role
Skills and Knowledge
  • Be able to work at a very fast paced environment and meet all deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and JD Edwards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry particularly in the use of flat decks and low beds as used in the transportation of MacDon products.
