Job Description

NorWest Co-op Community Health –Employment OpportunityPOSITION: Skill Development Worker Gilbert Park Wrap ProjectPROGRAM: Community DevelopmentRESPONSIBLE TO: Community Development CoordinatorSTATUS: 1.0 EFT 37.5 hours a week, 18 month term. Days, evenings and weekendsPOSITION SUMMARY:The position is part of the Community Development Team’s Family Resource Centre Initiative. The position will work with the WRAP model to provide direct support for children and youth with complex needs. As the needs of children and youth help determine the work schedule, the position will need to be available for day, evening and weekend work. The position will work directly in community with client. During Covid 19, all necessary health protocols and precautions will be in place.QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree an asset.
  • Experience with WrapAround an asset
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children and youth with complex needs
  • Knowledge of community resources for youth
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and harm reduction principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Awareness and sensitivity to issues of cultural diversity and colonialism
  • Access to vehicle and valid drives license
