Job Description

Simaril Supported Living is a not for profit organization supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and other co-occurring challenges.Do you live in the Southwest Area of Winnipeg Do you currently have a valid Class 5 Drivers license and a Reliable vehicle for work purposes Then Simaril may have an opportunity for you!Our Outreach and Supported Independent Living Programs are looking for dynamic Outreach Support Mentors to work at our agencyClass 5 Drivers License is RequiredFlexible HoursStarting Wage of 15.11Creative and Innovative Work Environment!Individuals in the Outreach and Supported Independent Living (SIL) program receive various amounts of support with daily living tasks to promote successful outcomes.Supports may be provided both in the community & home, based on their living situation. Supports focus on the individuals’ personal goals & priorities in addition to a strong emphasis on basic needs, relationships, & quality of life. Individuals are encouraged & supported to maintain the maximum level of independence.Responsibilities: The Outreach Support Mentor provides 1:1 support to individuals within the SIL, Outreach and Respite programs, both in home and community. The Outreach Support Mentor works collaboratively with other team members to ensure that the needs identified within the support plans are met and to empower individuals to achieve their goals.Supports may include but are not limited to:

  • Connecting with community resources
  • Attending medical appointments
  • Managing medication regimes
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Learning how to take the bus
  • Bill payments & money management
  • Support to acquire & maintain a productive role (work, volunteer, programming, etc.)
  • Accessing programming
  • Recreational Opportunities
  • Group programming opportunities
  • Meal preparation & Cooking
  • Cleaning & maintaining your home
  • Emotional Support
  • Crisis Support
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid Manitoba Drivers License with Satisfactory Drivers Abstract.
  • Use of a safe vehicle for work purposes
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector checked
  • Adult Abuse Registry Check,
  • Child Abuse Registry Check,
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
  • Experience providing personal care is an asset.
