Job Description

The opportunity:Reporting to the Services Delivery Technical Lead, the System Administrator will have a primary focus on providing general administration & support to Active Directory, M365, and other relevant back-end System Applications. They will maintain, manage, and enhance the IT system & network infrastructure of the organization. The incumbent will have a good understanding of VMware server virtualization, general networking, Microsoft/Office 365 admin, and backend system architecture. This technical role will be required to work independently within our Winnipeg office location and be able to effectively work and communicate with other peers or Infrastructure, Security, and Network staff/vendors in other geographically separated locations.Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining, managing, and enhancing the IT system & network infrastructure, including but not limited to, Windows & Linux Server, Azure, AWS, Office 365, Virtualization Server (VMware), and web application firewall.
  • Assisting in planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and testing of IT projects.
  • Acting as a point of contact through phone calls, emails, and Help Desk tickets from frontline support staff regarding IT Requests and Incidents.
  • Maintaining centralized documentation pertaining to System Changes and ensuring that Change Management tasks are coordinated with business/peer IT groups during change windows.
  • Owning the administration and troubleshooting of Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP.
  • Providing online administration and support assistance to Office 365, Teams and Exchange as required.
  • Acting as key a resource to assess, initiate, and recommend new technologies for various IT transformation projects; and completing tasks assigned within determined SLAs.
  • Providing incident, event, license, assets, and configuration management.
  • Coordinating the procurement process for all IT related matters.
  • Conducting relevant IT training and developing training materials including IT QA and documentation.
  • Assisting in project scope and risk management across projects.
  • Assisting in vendor evaluation and negotiation to ensure that IT services and products are procured to meet the organizations objectives.
  • Building, running and managing AKS, EKS and Lambda containers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A bachelors degree or diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent experience and education.
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry would be an asset.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an IT Help Desk or IT System Administration role where Microsoft/Windows based environment was used, is required.
  • Prior experience with Incident Management – managing assigned incidents including business expectations and communication, as well as documenting resolution and providing other related incident closure notes.
  • Strong understanding of Azure, AWS and Office 365 tools.
  • Familiarity with networking (NAT, DNS, firewalls, basic routing, load balancing, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge in administering Security Groups, Active Directory, Office365, GPO, DNS, DHCP, File Server, Database Servers, Exchange, Print Servers.
  • Prior experience working on computer assets management system projects.
  • Strong understanding of Linux system & Windows server administration.
  • A strong sense of urgency during outage situations or critical application issue resolution.
  • An ability to demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.
  • Curiosity to understand and build on differing perspectives of others to enhance team efficiency and quality outcomes.
  • Prior experience demonstrating comprehensive troubleshooting tactics.
  • Prior experience identifying issues from reading product logs such as audit, system, and error logs.
  • An ability to quickly learn and explain new complex technologies and subjects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to proactively organize and manage a high volume of time-sensitive tasks and work.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Exemplary interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills - fluency in both French and English is an asset.
  • Resourcefulness and strong research skills.
  • Prior experience working in a CLI environment.
  • Knowledge of Information security best practices.
  • On call availability.
  • Fluency in WordPress and Web Application Firewall.
  • Prior experience with end user hardware or software (laptops, cell phones, tablets).
  • An ability to travel to other office locations where required (minimal).
  • An ability to lift up to 30 lbs. (computer equipment) as needed.
  • Microsoft and AWS Certifications in a variety of specialties would be assets.
    • Familiarity with Monitoring & Security tools is an asset.
    • Experience with automation scripting is an asset.
    • Familiarity with web and mail protocols (HTTP, TLS, SMTP, etc.) is an asset.
    • Familiarity with modern API technologies (SSO, OAuth, HTTP RPCs, REST) is an asset.
    • Familiarity with SQL (any dialect) is an asset.
