Job Description

We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in Portage la Prairie or WinnipegOverview:

• Work as part of the Information Technology team who are responsible for the Windows Server and VMWare environment, performing duties such as maintenance, monitoring, new deployments and upgrades.
• Maintain best practices and procedures for patch management, antivirus management, hardware and operating system upgrades
• Create and maintain IT documentation such as change management, SOPs, and internal architecture documentation
• As a backup resource, provide excellent user support and customer service locally and remotely

Skills & Experience: · Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems support and administration in a corporate environment.· Experience with VMWare virtual desktop infrastructure and knowledge of Teradici administration· Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V· Experience and training in Microsoft Azure with some exposure to AWS· Experience in a Windows Server environment· Experience in the administration and support of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy· Knowledge of Cisco and HP networking· Excellent knowledge and/or training in Microsoft SQL· Experience and training in Fortinet security and telecom products· Experience with security best practices and maintaining systems to the highest levels of security and patch management· Experience working in a high secure environment with the utmost regard for security and privacy.· ITIL and/or Agile Scrum training and/or experience· Capable of troubleshooting complex technical problems· Proven ability in interpreting and developing complex network diagrams· Ability to multi-task and prioritize· Forward thinking and holistic in perspective.· Work well under pressure in a busy environment· Excellent attention to detail· A team player· Criminal Record check· Willingness to pursue additional certifications· An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be consideredKey Responsibilities:· Monitor system and network health reports and investigate as required.· Work in a collaborative environment with daily support tasks ranging in complexity and severity.· Contribute to and maintain system standards.· Research and recommend improvements that can automate daily tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.· Operating System patch management· Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.· Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.· Maintain data center environment and monitoring equipment.· Provide Tier 2 support for network services· Actively use helpdesk and workflow management tools for all requests, incidents and problems.· Provide the user community with notifications regarding system-wide events that may impact their day-to-day work.· Perform user account management.· Follow system change management procedures.· Be available for after-hours on-call support in rotation.· Perform other duties as assignedIt is important to note - if the successful candidate prefers working in our Winnipeg office the first two months will be required in Portage la Prairie and all subsequent time will be four days per week in Winnipeg and one day per week in Portage la Prairie.What Portage Mutual has to offerOur employees truly are our greatest asset.
