Job Description

RETSD will provide reasonable accommodations to applicants who are disabled and who may experience barriers during the interview and assessment process, upon request.Systems Support Technician (SST): Cloud and Security AdministratorBulletin No. 23OS-032Summary:Reporting to the Systems Support Manager, the SST: Cloud and Security Administrator is responsible for administering and supporting RETSD’s cloud platform. Currently the school division utilizes services from Microsoft Office 365 to provide a collaborative environment for both staff and students; maintains a divisional web presence along with school websites, and an Intranet (The Hub). This position also provides a key security role to the organization.Responsibilities include:

  • Administer, support and secure Office 365 services (i.e., Outlook Online, SharePoint Online, Project Online, OneDrive, Teams, etc.)
  • Support client usage of Office 365 services, software, and apps
  • Support Internet Information Services (IIS) based tools/utilities and websites
  • Stay informed and notify relevant staff of new functionality and improvements coming to Office 365
  • Monitor new and emerging security trends, exploits and vulnerabilities, and work collaboratively with other IT staff to mitigate security risks.
  • Work collaboratively to plan, implement, and support a disaster recovery environment
  • Liaise with support vendors
  • Develop and report on security campaigns that provide training and security insights for staff. This may include phishing simulations, targeted e-learning courseware using Cybersecurity Awareness platform, in addition to timely insights based on current security trends
  • Monitor current and relevant security trends and advisories. Notify and work with the security team to create an action plan to remediate
  • As a member of the security team review vulnerability assessment reports and develop a prioritized action plan; Also validate that previously identified and remediated vulnerabilities have been successfully patched by confirming vulnerabilities no longer present in updated report
  • Producing of publicly accessible Teams meetings; this may include after-hours sessions such as board meetings
  • Resolve IT tickets; troubleshoot with team; research and development where needed
  • Maintain required certification
Qualifications:
  • Education and experience: o Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or diploma in computer technology (preferred)
o Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) – Office 365 or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) (preferred)o Certified Ethical Hacker/White Hat training or similar security training/certification (preferred)o Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and PowerShell with a strong understanding of Cloud based systems such as Microsoft Office 365. Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Project Server experience an asset.o Experience supporting webservers, back-end servers, Azure AD, and Active Directoryo Windows client/server hardening (security vulnerability awareness) would be an asset o Knowledge and experience planning and implementing enterprise migrations
  • Communications and interpersonal skills
o Excellent written and verbal communication skillso Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with staff, management, and vendorso Demonstrated professionalism and respect for privacy in dealing with sensitive and confidential employee and student information.
  • Organization and time management
o Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environmento Strong desire to stay informed of new initiativeso High degree of initiativeo Strong problem-solving skills
  • A valid MB driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is required
  • Ability to climb a ladder is required
