Job Description

The RoleWhat is the roleThe Terminal Operations Coordinator –(Winnipeg/Gretna) is part of a team of 9 people at the sites with the objective of delivering safe and reliable operations to serve Shell’s fuel customers in the local market. Adherence to both Shell and Regulatory Compliance, maintaining Shell’s “License to Operate” is essential. The role is crucial in maintaining day-to-day operations and a key interface with Contractors and Carriers, overseeing maintenance activities and gate-to-gate efficiency.People:Coaching Terminal Operators, Contractors, and Drivers on HSE, Operations and Technical expectations in line with Shell’s Code of Conduct, while fostering an inclusive, diverse and collaborative culture.

  • HSSE & Product Quality:
    • Support No Harm to People; Zero Spills/Leaks.
    • Accountable for the Electronic Permitting system (Evision) to ensure its proper use in the field according to global procedures and standards
    • Accountable to ensure contractors and operators are aware of and use Shell Safe Work Practices
    • Responsible for the product care in accordance with Shell Product Quality Standards and to ensure product is compliant with Provincial Regulations.
    • Act as back-up incident commander when required, and support Emergency Response drills and exercises per plan.
  • Assets:
    • Maintain a high level of terminal reliability, minimizing unplanned downtime, and ensuring product availability for Shell’s customers.
    • Accountable to coordinate the execution and documentation of all proactive and reactive work orders using GSAP.
    • Integrate projects with existing operations in a flawless manner by working with the projects team, engineering team, HSSE and Operations.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Support Terminal Manager with external relationships: Fire Dept.; Police; Industrial Associations; Emergency Responders; Environmental Agencies e.g. Manitoba Conservation & Climate; Auditors etc.
    • Apply Continuous Improvement techniques and keep abreast of automation/digitalization of the distribution processes: loading rack interfaces, terminal automation systems, etc.
    • First Point of Contact for Terminal Automation System (Toptech TMS) issues and troubleshooting
  • Cost Controls & Value Creation:
    • Minimize costs through analysis and proper planning of maintenance activities and operator scheduling.
    • Plan maintenance/project equipment downtime in conjunction with Supply Operations to minimize business impacts.
What we need from you
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience is a must.
  • Developed interpersonal skills to support a high level of morale while coping with changing workplace environment, requirements and workloads. Able to work through and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Proven understanding of terminal operations, process safety, engineering, and handling of dangerous goods.
  • Acquired technical skills in asset maintenance, crisis management and emergency response, Process Safety Fundamentals and a proven HSSE background.
  • Established time management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities and/or negotiate conflicting activities around unexpected events.
  • While not required, a Petroleum Technician or Power Engineering certificate would be beneficial.
