Job Description

Capitol Steel Corp. excels at fabrication and erection of unique, complex and heavy structural steel projects. We fabricate, transport and install bridge girders, industrial buildings, hydro-electric dam components and other specialized heavy plate steel products across Canada and export into the USA.Capitol Steel is actively seeking a Transport and Logistics Coordinator who will oversee our specialized transport department and who will assist the Plant Manager in coordinating the delivery of our fabricated steel structures to site, in a timely manner. The Transport and Logistics Coordinator will also assist in managing workflow, ensuring production is on target for timely project delivery and manage all drivers and equipment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning efficient and timely delivery routes.
  • Ensuring all permits, escorts, bookings and paperwork are complete prior to trip.
  • Evaluating loads and acquiring overweight permits as necessary.
  • Coordinating with Plant Manager to ensure sufficient staffing per load is available.
  • Analyzing and presenting costs associated with trips and delivery.
  • Monitoring and reporting drivers issues before, during and after trips and investigating any delivery issues.
  • Staying up to date on logistics, delivery and supply chain legislation.
  • Coordinating with engineering team to ensure loads are loaded and lashed correctly and in accordance with engineered drawings.
  • Coordinating with mechanics to ensure equipment is ready for use and coordinating any outside maintenance as required.
  • Coordinating with safety personnel to ensure that driver training and licensing is up to date and in good standing.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in supply chain, transportation or logistics required. Similar experience and education will be considered.
  • Must be able to communicate at an advanced level in English.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines and follow strict guidelines.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Overtime and flexibility in schedule will be required.
  • Valid Class 5
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Some overtime may be required.
  • Flexibility in schedule is necessary to meet required deadlines.
  • Class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle.
