Join our team of Manitobas best as we continue to build a company that supports innovation,commitment and customer service.Under the general direction of the Materials Management Manager, and as a key member of the Materials Management leadershipteam, responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operations of the Transportation Services department. This will includeassessing, prioritizing, and directing transportation requirements and organizing the transportation of material throughout theprovince from locations based in Winnipeg and Brandon. Will provide leadership, subject matter expertise and sound judgment toensure decisions achieve the best overall value for the Corporation.Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and supervision for daily logistics and transportation services, ensuring customer requirements,
compliance with Corporate policy, union agreements, safety, and all regulations pertaining to the highway traffic act are met.
  • Following the Corporate operating principles, provide leadership, excellent communication, and performance management to
direct reports facilitating a positive and cohesive work environment.
  • Plan, implement, and control the efficient scheduling, allocation of workload, and dispatch of transportation service work
requests.
  • Apply professional knowledge as well as strategic and innovative thinking to maximize efficiency and achieve the best overall
value for the Corporation while ensuring open communication and customer needs are met.
  • Provide logistics planning and transportation expertise to develop delivery schedules ensuring optimal utilization of resources
and equipment, including identifying and recommending process changes and courses of action for productivity and/orcost-effective improvements.
  • Oversee and manage third-party carrier and transportation service contracts, managing communication and control
throughout the process ensuring customer requirements are met.
  • Act as the subject matter expert while working with SCM to identify, review and participate in the development and evaluation
of proposals and tenders to determine the best overall value for the Corporation.
  • Participate in business planning development, identify improvements through detailed cost/benefit analysis, and engage with
management and customers throughout execution to monitor performance and effectiveness.
  • Develop KPIs that are directly linked to the business plan for the department, division, and Corporation reporting monthly on
the progression.
  • Develop, monitor, and update an interactive customer-focused dashboard showing real-time progression of work requests,
deliveries, and scheduled deliveries.
  • Create and update process/procedure manuals to reflect current business practices.
  • Ensure all safety, health and environment rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures are understood and adhered to.
Actively participate in and support the safety committee and SMS completion.
  • Prepare and monitor Transportation Services operating costs and capital acquisitions. Recommend and justify replacements

  • Bachelors degree in business, logistics or other relevant field from a recognized university plus a minimum of five years
directly related experience including two years of supervisory/leadership experience.OR
  • A two-year diploma in business administration, logistics, or other relevant field from an institute of recognized standing plus a
minimum of seven years directly related experience including two years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Certified Logistics Professional Designation from Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in logistics planning and business management of transportation services.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in organizing and controlling various concurrent work assignments, working under
pressure, and making sound judgments while meeting deadlines and commitments.
  • Advanced understanding of personal computers, including Corporate software applications, Microsoft Applications including
Excel, Word, Visio, and the ability to create and maintain dashboards and apps for Power BI.
  • General knowledge of SAP and M5 would be an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of government legislation including but not limited to Workers Compensation Act, Dangerous Goods
Regulations, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System, Workplace Safety and Health Act, and the Highway TrafficAct as it pertains to Corporate and Third-Party Carriers.
  • Demonstrated degree of diplomacy and tact with proven capability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, and
interact with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Corporate Supply Chain Management procedures and policies, including Materials Management shipping
and scheduling procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge in vehicles and equipment, including maintenance, operation, testing and certification requirements,
rigging techniques, cargo placement and load securement.
  • Proficient knowledge in provincial road networks and highway classifications, geographical locations and distances, and winter
road systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of MH safety rules, SWP, Corporate policy, collective agreements, and approved practices and
standards.
  • Practical knowledge of the various functions, responsibilities, services, and material handling procedures used throughout the
Corporation would be an asset.Salary RangeStarting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
