The Group Underwriter I Interacts with field staff by telephone and email to provide information in response to quote inquiries, renewal rating and requests for changes to insurance coverage.Job Responsibilities

• Review quotes for completeness and perform risk analysis using general underwriting principles
• Use Microsoft Excel templates to analyze renewal data and document quoted coverage and premium rate information
• Prepare renewal documents using Microsoft Word and distribute to field employees
• Prepare and distribute application documents to the field and Group Operation to enroll new clients
• Assist with field inquiries, including coverage details, coverage changes and renewal rating in a prompt and professional manner
• Record and maintain quote and renewal information in department database
• Maintain accurate records of decisions made and maintain completeness of plan data
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or three years of equivalent work experience
• General understanding of group insurance principles
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Effective writing and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and fluctuating work volumes to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
