Job Description

  • Youll be joining our upholstery supervisory team on a full time, permanent basis
  • To support the Production Coordinator in leading employees towards ensuring customer satisfaction through the achievement of on-time delivery, at the lowest cost and highest quality standards
  • Must take responsibility to monitor sign-in / sign-out sheets to ensure all employees are consistently and accurately tracked
  • Ensure that all employees are receiving proper training. With some tasks, the team leader can take direct responsibility. For others (e.g., sewing, cutting), the team leader should ensure that lead personnel are effectively administering training in a timely fashion
  • To ensure that all basic safety rules, particularly that of employees wearing required safety / protective equipment, are being adhered to
  • To address unsafe working situations immediately
  • Ensure that only trained and qualified people are performing appropriate tasks
  • Should take time to ensure that new employees (new to EQ3 OR the team) are welcomed, introduced to others, and made to feel at home.
  • Ensure that new employees are given necessary equipment
  • Review with new employees the basic expectations of life in the team (e.g., start / end times, coffee breaks, storage of personal belongings, emergency procedures, etc.)
  • Review with new employees the basic expectations of the tasks (e.g., cushion filling, sewing, etc.). If there is a lead sewer / cutter, etc. that takes this immediate responsibility, the Team Leader should ensure that this is taking place.
  • Ensure that there is a basic level of group cohesion and positive morale in the team – to develop a team attitude within the team
  • To meet the due dates that are scheduled – working with management and schedulers to develop an appropriate schedule
  • To be able to make occasional and basic suggestions about process, administration, or personnel improvements
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • Some secondary school education may be required
  • Knowledge of Upholstery product: Cover leather/fabric, wood frames, filling materials
  • Knowledge of quality standards of EQ3 upholstery products
  • Experience working with a culturally diverse workforce
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate well in both written and oral English
  • Strong work ethic
  • Accurate and organized
  • Able to use a measuring tape and read in both standards: metric and imperial
  • Experience working with air tools
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools including scissors, knife, seam ripper, mallet, etc
  • Physically able to lift 75 Lbs
  • To model leadership by being an example of integrity, reliability, and punctuality
