Plessis Veterinary Hospital is a full service companion animal hospital located in Transcona. We are currently seeking an Veterinary Assistant to add to our growing veterinary team.The position offers full-time hours varying between mornings, evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate is motivated, personable and punctual, organized, has strong communication skills and works well in a team environment. The Veterinary Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment while ensuring the patients receive the highest standard of care. You must be comfortable handling dogs and cats that very in size and temperament. Experience in a veterinary setting is preferred, however we are willing to train the right person.Veterinary Assistants are expected to perform the following daily duties to the standards of the hospital:Ø Being available to assist the doctors, RVTs, fellow assistants and receptionist in varying tasksØ To perform and complete any task delegated by the doctors and fellow staff membersØ Preparing any supplies and equipment needed for a procedure and cleaning up after it is completedØ Ensuring the patients in our care are being monitored, fed, and walked. This includes:o That medications and procedures given at the proper timeo The patient is in a clean environment (i.e., kennel/run, bedding, etc.)o Proper care notes are being put on the patient’s fileØ Disinfecting and cleaning the following between every patient:o All runs and kennelso Equipmento Food/water bowlso Countertops/Procedure tableso X-ray machineo Dental tablesØ Completing all care calls that are categorized as Non-criticalØ Answering any questions or concerns that the client may haveØ Keeping up to date on all food and OTC informationThe following are to be performed by all staff members:Ø All staff members, regardless of their position, are to perform their duties properly and professionalØ If you do not know the answer to a question or do not know how to perform/prepare for a task or procedure, please do not guess or assume.
