Job Description

Job Title: Visitor Experience Ambassador (part-time)This part-time position will be 16-30 hours per week and requires availability Thursday to Sunday. Shifts will include some evenings, and a minimum of one weekend shift per week.General Description:In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for encouraging and guiding FWA visitors to explore, learn and connect with nature so as to further our mission and mandate. Key responsibilities include working as an ambassador of FWA in Visitor Reception through the orientation of visitors with programs, activities and events. This individual will help operate the Nature Shop by providing information about products to visitors, maintaining stock and displays, as well as by processing all sales transactions. This individual will have strong customer service, organizational and decision making skills. This individual will have a demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to be adaptable.Supervisor: Retail & Visitor Experience CoordinatorPrincipal Tasks:General Reception: 50%Greet all visitors and promote FortWhyte attractions/activities/programsAssist the Retail & Visitor Experience Coordinator in organizing, promoting and fostering high quality visitor experiencesProcess sales transactions for admissions, memberships, program fees, etc.Answer incoming telephone calls, directing them to appropriate staff members or providing answers to general questionsRefill brochure racks as neededRecord visitor attendance statistics dailyTally cash deposits at the end of dayOpen and close the Alloway Reception Centre and property gateWork with a variety of volunteersWork to develop relationships with visitors, donors and membersRetail Services: 40%Process sales from the Nature ShopAssist the Retail and Visitor Experience Coordinator in ordering, reordering and sourcing productsPrice newly received inventoryDisplay Nature Shop inventory (windows, shelving and mannequins)Monitor stock movement and inventory levelsGain a broad knowledge base regarding the products for saleAssist customers with purchasing decisionsRe-stock merchandise on an ongoing basisOrder special requests for out of stock inventory itemsAssist with the ongoing maintenance & cleaning of the store, stockroom and “nest”Order supplies as needed for the Nature Shop & Buffalo Stone CafeOther duties as assigned: 10%Assist with COVID-19 related sanitizing duties including: maintaining a sanitized workspace, cleaning commonly touched surfaces withing the Alloway Reception Centre, and bathroom sanitizing as neededAssist with special mailingsAssist accountant with various activitiesMaintain database as requiredAssist during evening eventsSelection Requirements:Genuine enthusiasm for FortWhyte Alive and its missionWorking knowledge of Microsoft OfficeRetail experience a definite asset but not requiredExperience in hospitality and tourism industry an assetGood interpersonal and communication skillsPrivate transportation to FortWhyte AliveProof of COVID-19 vaccination required for all FWA employees, volunteers & board membersPlease submit your résumé by November 10th, 2021FortWhyte Alive is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
